Each fall my husband and I attend our dear friend’s annual harvest party in Napa. You see, our dear friend is a winemaker. And an incredible one at that. Ever tried Modus Operandi? Try it – you will thank me. On this particular trip while driving through Sonoma we stumbled upon one very delicious destination, Fremont Diner. This southern comfort diner is a true diamond in the rough. Creative, down-home cuisine is how I’d describe this weathered roadside establishment. Located on a stretch of Highway 121, this rustic gem appeared sort of like an oasis. In fact, we passed it, got about a mile down the road, and made a loopty-loop. And thank goodness we did. We were starving, a tad under the weather (thanks to the free-flowing wine at Jason’s party the day before) and home-cookin comfort food was just what the hangover doctor ordered. And we weren’t the only ones who decided to partake chicken and waffles. The only negative comments I can really make about the experience was the wait (did I mention we were starving?!) and the heat. We sat on a charming screened-in porch and there was a lack of a/c and breeze (you may get a slight hint of this by my friend’s half-hearted smiles below:)). Aside from this, it was perfection. We waited on their outdoor patio which was strung with lights and featured colorful picnic tables and umbrellas. I immediately thought how splendid this location would be for a rehearsal dinner and/or engagement party! And behind the patio bar you’ll find the Fremont garden and chicken yard. Now that’s about as fresh and farm-to-table as it gets folks! We now plan to make this delicious destination apart of our harvest party experience every year…
