Friday Faves: Brown Sugar Face Scrub

Friday Faves: Brown Sugar Face Scrub

I often feature Product Reviews on Society Bride.  So about once a month editors, inventors, and founders send me goodies to test and review.  So trust me when I tell you I have tried a plethora of skin and beauty products promising to tighten, tone, and depuff.  Today I want to share with you my all-time favorite face scrub.  Hint: it wasn’t one I received for a review.  It also doesn’t cost a fortune, isn’t created by a “Dr.” and cannot be found on the shelves of Sephora or Ulta.  You will however find it’s ingredients on the shelves at your local market.  This Brown Sugar Face Scrub is gentle, moisturizing, elegant, all-natural and the very very best bang for your buck.  Turns out, nature’s sweeteners are perfect for your face!  All you need is brown sugar, raw honey, and avocado oil (it’s your face and you’re saving so consider splurging on the organic stuff).  The honey acts as an antibacterial agent, as well as an antiviral and anti-fungal. The brown sugar exfoliates while also fighting bacteria with glycolic acid; and the avocado oil is extracted from the pulp of the fruit so it’s incredibly rich and will help your skin retain moisture.  It smells divine and you just know you’re doing good things to your skin; and it will thank you with a beautiful new healthy glow.

1). Mix 3 table spoon equal parts organic avocado oil brown sugar.

2). Starting with one table spoon of raw honey, add into your scrub and mix well.  Add more until your mixture becomes gooey.  Feel free to adjust the amount of each ingredient until your scrub becomes your desired texture.

3). Apply it to a clean and damp face (and body) and gently scrub for 1-2 minutes, concentrating on the rough patches and avoiding delicate eye area.

4). Wash your scrub off with warm water, and follow with a facial serum or moisturizer.  And enjoy your smooth glowing skin.

(This can be repeated once to twice a week for best results)

Side Note: This scrub makes the BEST holiday gift! I packaged this exact recipe for my girls last Christmas and it was a hit. Find these Glass Terrines with airtight bail-and-seal closures at The Container Store, gift ties at the Dollar Store, and create your own cute printable tags. Voila! A thoughtful gift under $5.00!
